Greece — Where ouzo can make a philosopher of you

Amoudi, Santorini, Greece

When you want to have a slow drink, one of the best places in the world for it is at sunset at Dimitris, the last taverna along the waterfront in Amoudi, the port below Oia on the Greek island of Santorini. Sitting there with a plate of calamari fresh off the grill and a sufficient quantity of ouzo will make a philosopher out of you, or at least make you philosophical enough to tell yourself that the cliff-side of crumbling red rocks above your head have been hanging that way for thousands of years, even though its really only been since the last major earthquake, in 1956.
