Travel writer Bob Payne has been to French Polynesia in the South Pacific often enough, a dozen times or so, that he feels comfortable thinking of this spot along the shore of Cook’s Bay on Moorea as his office. It’s at the Club Bali Hai, where the Bali Hai Boys made their last stand.

Bride’s magazine Nov/Dec 2003. in which he pointed out to honeymoon couples headed for Tahiti and the rest of French Polynesia that except for “I do” there may be no two words more evocative of romance than “South Pacific.”
