The Galapagos, which I first visited while serving as a crew member aboard a big sailing yacht on its way from Panama to Tahiti, is home to an odd collection of beasts you can’t help suspecting would rather have evolved elsewhere. I mean, just imagine the sense of alienation the Galapagos penguin must feel.
